Throughout the year, we hold various dance and performance workshops designed to give our youngsters the opportunity to develop their theatre skills in a fun and creative atmosphere.
The children are taught by qualified and DBS checked teachers and we regularly invite additional trainers who are currently working as performers in the theatre or entertainment industries.
The dance element sees children learning simple routines set either to chart music or well known and popular musicals. Everyone can take part, no matter what their level of experience. The performing arts part of the workshop includes learning songs, sections of scripts or small plays all of which go to make up a small performance for parents to watch.
As well as our own teaching staff, we will bring in other specialist teachers to give the summer school an added dimension. In previous summer schools, we have added Irish Dancing, Ballroom, Contemporary, Spanish, Circus Skills as well as professionals from the world of dance and entertainment.
Our workshops have so far included three day summer schools, a Halloween themed day, a Mamma Mia workshop with West End performer Gary Watson and a Ballet workshop with a former Birmingham Royal Ballet dancer. We’ve even had a session with the BBC TV weather roadshow!
